Lexus recently debuted the 2020 RC F in Detroit, Michigan and we’re pleased to report a long list of upgrades. Along with refreshed styling both inside and out, this sports coupe delivers a smaller number on the scale and gets a new uncompromising variant: the RC F Track Edition. Let’s delve into all the highly anticipated features of the upcoming Lexus RC F.

The New Track Edition

The racing-focused version of the RC F joins the lineup for 2020 and is expected to hit dealer lots in limited numbers. With nearly 500 horsepower at your command, the Track Edition has the potential to be a real contender on the oval. It’s instantly recognizable by the fixed rear wing and distinctive lower front spoiler.

Naturally Aspirated Performance

Lexus spent some time tinkering under the hood of the 2020 RC F, harnessing a bit more power. This 5.0-liter V-8 remains one of the few naturally aspirated engines in the world of luxury performance cars. It spins out a total of 472 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque.

All this power is delivered to the rear wheels by an eight-speed automatic transmission with improved gearing. It produces a higher final drive ratio to boost overall response and acceleration. Rumor has it the new RC F hits the 60 mph mark in 4.2 seconds, while the new Track Edition does it in 4.0 seconds flat, a nice shave off its previous time.

It Shed A Few Pounds

The RC F’s Achilles’ heel has always been its weight. Topping the scales at a hefty 4,048 pounds, all this mass slowed its performance when compared to rivals. Thanks to a variety of bulk-saving measures, Lexus touts that the new model weighs 176 pounds less than the 2018 variant. How did Lexus shed all that weight? The standard 2020 RC F is equipped with hollow half-shafts, a smaller intake manifold and air-conditioning compressor, and aluminum suspension brackets.

This Japanese automaker didn’t stop there. It equipped the RC F Track Edition with lighter 19-inch BBS forged-alloy wheels, carbon-ceramic Brembo brake rotors, and titanium exhaust pipes. The new Track Edition’s carbon fiber elements help lighten its load from the hood, roof, and front splitter to the dramatic rear wing.

Stylish Enhancements

The upcoming RC F gets a bit of an exterior refresh for 2020 that includes updates to the headlights, taillights, and the aggressive front and rear fascias. To reduce drag and add downforce, Lexus replaced the RC F’s stock spoiler of the past with a carbon fiber, motorsport-style wing.

You’ll also notice the new lower lip opening in the reshaped grille. Inside the 2020 Lexus RC F are sports seats decked out in red leather upholstery, and the cabin has carbon fiber trim.

Don’t miss out as Lexus unveils its 2019 sports coupe, the 2020 RC F, and the RC F Track Edition at a showroom near you. Schedule a test drive soon, before it’s too late to get your hands on this limited variant.
