The 46-acre Allentown Fairgrounds showcases plenty of special events throughout the year, including concerts, trade shows, and the exciting Great Allentown Fair. Another particularly popular event that occurs is the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market. Here’s where you’ll learn everything you need to know if you’re interested in checking out the food and merchandise available at the market.

More Than Just Produce

The Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market offers more than just the typical produce you find at other markets. There are over 65 merchants that also sell items such as meats and poultry, seafood, and baked goods. You can stop by Clover Hill Vineyards and Winery and pick up a bottle of premium Pennsylvania wine, or head to The Old Time Watch and Clock Shop for repair and restoration of both vintage and new timepieces.

If you’re looking for organic items, shops such as The Bread Brokers; Heffelfinger’s Coffee, Tea, and Specialty Foods; and Mr. Bill’s Poultry Market have you covered. When you’re trying to find a unique gift, consider shopping one of the gourmet stores, such as Wittman’s World Cheeses or Gannon’s Gourmet. If all of your shopping makes you work up an appetite for something sweet, you won’t be disappointed with a stop at Mary Ann Donut Kitchen or Two Sisters Bagels and Coffee.

Not Just for Shopping

While you can certainly complete your shopping for groceries and other household goods when you stop by the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market, that’s not all you can do there. If you’re hungry, there are numerous delicious restaurants where you can find a good meal. Pick up a sandwich at Stoltzfus Amish Deli or find a great meal at Billy’s Seafood and Rib Shack. If you’re in the mood for something different, check out the offerings at Bee Lee Sushi, Foods of the Mediterranean, or Gdynia Polish Market.

Weekly Specials Available

The Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market offers different weekly specials throughout the year so you can always find a good deal on meats, cheeses, produce, and more. Additionally, if you head to market after 4 p.m. on Saturday, you might be able to find even greater savings on your groceries as stores begin to offer their last day sales to clear out produce and make room for the fresh items arriving next week. Of course, this also means you’ll have fewer items to choose from since other shoppers have been through during the past three days to buy what they need.

Open Year-Round

The Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market is open year-round, although it does close for two weeks, during the last week of August and the first week of September, for the Great Allentown Fair. Otherwise, the market is open on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Whether you’re shopping for produce, meats, household goods, or something sweet, you can find what you’re looking for when you head out to the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market.
