Lexus is one of the most popular high-end car brands, working hard since its debut to carve out a niche for itself in the luxury market. Lexus took on a market primarily dominated by German and American auto manufacturers and has continued to rise up the ranks. When you compare Lexuses to other luxury cars, it’s easy to see why Lexus is one of the top automotive brands on the market.

Multiple Awards for Reliability

As Toyota’s luxury brand segment, it’s not surprising that Lexus ranks high for reliability. Based on a recent J.D. Power New Car Dependability Study, two different Lexus models received perfect scores: the Lexus GS and Lexus LS. Other models, like the Lexus CT, Lexus ES, and the Lexus RX, also received awards. Combined with Toyota’s models, the Toyota Motor Corporation received six of the 19 given awards, the most for any individual corporation in the study.

For 2018, Lexus also ranked highest in overall vehicle dependability among all brands, with a score of 99 out of 100. This marks the seventh consecutive year Lexus has come out on top in the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) rankings.

Hybrid and Electric Options Available

Consumers who are in the market for a luxury vehicle but prefer a hybrid or electric model might not immediately think of buying a Lexus. However, Lexus comes out on top when compared to other luxury car brands for its hybrid and electric offerings. U.S. News ranked six luxury hybrid and electric vehicles, and Lexus models took three of the top six slots in the rankings. The i3 is the only all-electric model, and reviewers note Lexus offers more powerful and bigger options.

Top Safety Pick+

Much like its reliability scores, Lexus ranks high for its safety features when compared to other luxury brands. According to U.S. News, Lexus had four 2017 models that earned Top Safety Pick+ honors and one that earned a Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

To qualify for a Top Safety Pick, the vehicle must earn “Good” ratings in IIHS crash tests and a minimum of “Advanced” for its front crash prevention. To earn the Top Safety Pick+, it must also earn a “Good” rating for headlights.

Another factor included in IIHS safety ratings is the LATCH category, which stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children. It’s easy to improperly install child restraints, so LATCH is designed to help make correct installation easier. Tether anchors are needed when installing forward-facing restraints, whether or not lower anchors or the safety belt is utilized. Research shows it’s more likely that child restraints will be installed correctly when LATCH is used. Lexus’ RX 350 scored highly in this category, earning a Good+ LATCH rating.

If you’re in the market for a new luxury vehicle, consider a new or pre-owned Lexus. It’s consistently ranked as one of the top luxury car brands. Come by and check out our lineup of new Lexus vehicles or see our inventory of pre-owned Lexus models.
