If you’re visiting Allentown, Pennsylvania, this summer, you’ll get to enjoy more than just great pubs, restaurants, and museums. The town has loads of events planned for travelers who would like to feel welcome in Lehigh Valley. Stroll through the natural parks, learn about the area’s culinary and beverage manufacturing history, or take the kids for a splash at a local water park.

Wine on the Mountain in Lehigh Valley

Organized this summer around the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail, this festival will introduce you to nine local wineries and allow you to sample their produce. Ranked as one of the top food and beverage events in the world by Essence Magazine, this outing is perfect for wine lovers. You can even enjoy the on-site entertainment and the great views of Penn’s Peak from the trail. The Wine on the Mountain event is held on July 22 and 23.

Enjoy a Cool Night Walk Around the Galleries

After a hot day, you will love the free night tours of Allentown’s galleries. A night at the museums starts at 6 p.m., and the galleries are open until 8 p.m. The event is held every Thursday, and tours start at Allentown Art Museum. The gallery has a cafe and activities for kids, including art and culture camps for smaller children and teenagers.

Admire Vintage Cars

Visit Memorial Park just outside Allentown, in Macungie, when it’s transformed before Labor Day. Here you will see around 2,000 classic and vintage cars restored to their full glory. All cars were made before 1986 and will go on an evening cruise together to entertain tourists and locals. A flea market and vendor area with light refreshments and drinks are also on site. Here you can check out the artisan decorations, including car jewelry and craft items. For dates and location, visit the official Wheels Of Time Rod & Custom Jamboree website.

Nighttime Entertainment With Beer

Every Wednesday this summer you can visit the Sugar Hill Jazz House for live blues, great entertainment, and craft beer. Book your tickets for just $22, and turn up between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to enjoy the friendly atmosphere, tasty barbecue, and live music.

Visit the Farmers Market

If you would like to taste multiple cuisines, then you must visit the farmers market in downtown Allentown. You can experience a truly multicultural atmosphere, try new types of meat and cheese, and grab a lunch of your choice. Try the pickles, the fresh seafood restaurant, or the Vietnamese food.

Visit the Allentown Rose Gardens

This summer, you can admire different rose varieties and take photos while wandering Allentown’s landscaped rose gardens. The park is accessible for all, and you can find the perfect spot for a romantic walk. Admission is free, and you can walk all the way to Cedar Beach Park. If you decide to have a picnic surrounded by this beautiful scenery, you can find benches throughout the gardens. Parking is available on Parkway Blvd.
