With the summer season upon us, now is the time to get the kids outside to take in some sunshine and get some much-needed exercise outdoors. While there is much to see and do in Lehigh Valley and Allentown, below are three super fun activities you can take your children to this summer.

Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom

Whether you and the kids enjoy the thrill of a roller-coaster ride or enjoy cooling off on a water slide, Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom has it all. It is like getting two parks with one pass, plus guaranteed entertainment for your kids. If you are enjoying the day with small kiddos, be sure to stop by Planet Snoopy. Young children will enjoy numerous rides catered to their age and size, including the Woodstock Express, Linus Launcher, and Charlie Brown’s Wind-Up swing ride.

Older children and adults can take advantage of the large roller coasters and thrill rides, such as the Demon Drop and Thunder Creek Mountain. On those steamy, humid summer days, visit the Wildwater Kingdom and enjoy the Lollipop Lagoon, Patriot’s Plunge, Lightning Falls, and Wildwater River, just to name a few ways to chill.

Da Vinci Science Center

Provide your children with hours of entertainment, while they learn and explore at the Da Vinci Science Center. There is a wide range of exhibits and activities your kids will enjoy. Young inventors should check out Leo’s Creative Studio, a maker space exhibit. They can use their creative thinking skills to build motorized scribble bots, recycled race cars, and take part in creating and solving problems on the center’s marble maze wall.

Your kids can learn how the brain works by taking a trip through the MEGA Brain, an inflatable walk-through exhibit. Along their journey, children learn about diseases and conditions related to the brain and how they can keep their own brains healthy. Whether your kid has a future in the medical field or would just like to learn more about the human body, he or she can do so by exploring Cyndi the SynDaver, the center’s synthetic cadaver.

Lehigh Valley Zoo

Learn about nature and enjoy some fantastic animal exhibitions at the Lehigh Valley Zoo. Your youngsters will enjoy seeing many types of animals, from reptiles to owls. Allow them to participate in one of the zoo events hosted this summer, such as Rock Around the Zoo on July 28.

Consider calling the zoo ahead of time to schedule a Close Encounter, which will allow your children to get up close and personal with some of the many species they house, such as sloths, penguins, foxes, and armadillos. If you would like your child to learn more about nature, wildlife, and the lives of different species of animals throughout the year, the zoo has many afterschool and weekend interactive programs that mix education with a lot of fun.

Help your kids enjoy their summer vacation by taking them to one of the fun places above. Whether they are interested in thrill rides, science, or animals, as a parent, you will find just what you are looking for in Lehigh Valley and Allentown.
