The Lehigh River Valley is a Delaware River tributary that spans across 109 miles of land in Pennsylvania. This expansive body of water has many exceptional sights that are worth checking out.

Hoover-Mason Trestle

The Hoover-Mason Trestle of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was once a crucial part of the local city building process. This historic building was finished in 1907 and acted as a roadway for delivering iron ingredients. Today, the trestle has been redesigned as a park and popular sightseeing spot. You can walk through the industrial building, reading unique facts along the way. Enjoy the waterfront views and live music in the lower section with special events planned throughout the month.

Bucky Boyle Park

The Bucky Boyle Park is right on Front Street, overlooking the Lehigh River. The park was named after George Boyle, a former professional baseball player that grew up right in Allentown. The park has many facilities for activities; baseball and football fields, basketball courts, picnic pavilions, and a children’s splash park with city-themed play structures.

You can also directly access the waterfront right from within the park, making it a popular spot for boaters. The narrow canal and miles of water give it a sense of privacy for boaters and kayakers alike.

Lehigh Gorge State Park

The 6,107-acre Lehigh Gorge State Park is the ideal spot for Lehigh River water activities. The park stretches across miles of waterfront land from the Francis E. Walter dam, all the way to the Jim Thorpe dam to the south. The numerous waterfalls within the waterways make it a great spot for adrenaline-producing activities like whitewater boating. More advanced kayakers can also enjoy the thrilling whitewater experiences. Visitors that want a more relaxing experience will enjoy the 20-miles of available hiking and biking trails.

America on Wheels Museum

America On Wheels Museum celebrates the best of road transportation throughout the years. The museum sits right on the Lehigh River in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The exhibits change from time to time and the current exhibit on display is the Fabulous Fins of the ’50s and ’60s: The Jet Age of Automobile Design. Visitors can explore the interactive exhibits, learning about the many vehicles that traversed the roads during the ’50s and ’60s. The America On Wheels Museum also hosts special events including a Trunk or Treat, holiday train display, and a heavy equipment petting zoo day.

1741 on the Terrace

The 1741 on the Terrace restaurant offers an upscale dining experience with patio views of the Lehigh River. Located in historic Bethlehem, the dining room also has hints of historical significance. The flooring and windows are the same ones used in the original 1741 building.

The expansive wine list is perfect for relaxing while taking in some of the most beautiful views of the river. There is also a creamery in the bottom level of the building, great for an after-dinner dessert.

Take in some of the best views of the Lehigh River at these attractions. Whether you enjoy waterfront dining, water sports, or simply strolling along the calm river, there will be something that you are sure to enjoy.
