Lexus Safety System +Lexus is always striving toward a world with no accidents. It’s why every 2020 model comes standard with the Lexus Safety System+ comprehensive collection of active safety features. Learn more about some of these safety features so you can see why Lexus is one of the safest brands on the road.

Road Sign Assist

Road sign assist is a safety feature that’s exclusive to Lexus Safety System+ 2.0. It uses a built-in camera to scan the road ahead for road signs. It will then take this information and display it in the instrument panel or the available heads-up display. Road sign assist can display the speed limit, yield, stop, and do not enter signs so you never miss this important information.

Pre-Collision System

The pre-collision system with pedestrian detection is designed to scan the road ahead under certain conditions for vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists. If the system detects an imminent frontal collision, it will activate an audio and visual alert and prepare the brake assist system to help with braking. If you don’t take the necessary steps to brake in time, the system can also automatically begin braking and even bring your vehicle to a stop at speeds above six miles per hour.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

Driving with other traffic isn’t always easy, but dynamic radar cruise control makes it a little easier. The system uses cameras and radar to help you maintain a preset following distance and speed from the vehicle ahead of you. Whether you’re driving in stop-and-go traffic or at highway speeds, the system can detect if you get too close to the vehicle you’re following and automatically slow your vehicle to keep you a safe distance away. When the road clears, the system can then return to its preset speed.

Lane Assistance

The Lexus Safety System+ has a variety of lane assistance systems that can help you stay in your lane when you’re driving down the road. Lane departure alert will offer an audible alert if it detects the vehicle inadvertently drifting out of its lane. If the lane departure alert system includes steering assist, the system will provide slight adjustments on the steering wheel to center the vehicle. Additionally, lane-keep assist can work with the cruise control system to help prevent lane drifts before they even start.

Intelligent High Beams

Intelligent high beams are designed to help you have greater visibility and make it easier for other drivers to see you during low light situations. When the system detects that the road ahead is clear and it’s dark enough to need more light, it will automatically turn on the high beams. However, if it detects the headlights or taillights of another vehicle, it will automatically switch back to low beams. This helps you keep your focus on the road without having to worry about switching your high beams on and off when needed.
