Lexus has long been known as a go-to luxury brand for cars, SUVs, and in more recent years, hybrid versions of these vehicles. The car maker has hinted that plans are under consideration to introduce hybrid versions of its F vehicles, with the possible inclusion of a standalone GT model. Up to now, there haven’t been hybrids of the performance F series. What could this mean for Lexus enthusiasts? A look at current available F series and hybrid models might lend some insight.

F-Series

The Lexus RC-F is a sporty, high-performance coupe that turns heads wherever it goes. It starts at $64,650 and comes loaded with tons of standard safety and technology features. Under the hood is a 5.0-liter V-8 engine offering up 487 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque. This largest-in-its-class engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic with manual shifting mode. 14.9-inch slotted brake rotors and Brembo calipers give you the control and stopping power you need. The interior is reminiscent of a race car’s cockpit, with high-back sport seats and well-positioned steering column.

The Lexus GS-F is a sporty sedan with race-inspired elements. Starting at $84,350, it has much to offer in the way of infotainment and safety features, not to mention the high-performance engine, transmission, and other components. The GS-F runs on a naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V-8 engine delivering 467 horsepower and 389 pound-feet of torque, and its eight-speed automatic transmission makes for snappy upshifts.

Hybrids

The Lexus NX 300h uses a 2.5-liter in-line 4 engine combined with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT) to deliver an EPA-estimated combined 31 miles per gallon. Starting at $38,535, this stylish crossover is both comfortable and powerful.

The Lexus RX 450h starts at $45,895, and its counterpart, the RX 450Lh starts at $50,620. Its 3.5-L V-8 engine gets an estimated 30 miles per gallon combined. It’s a luxury SUV with seating for six and loads of comfort and convenience features.

The Lexus ES 300h is a luxury four-door sedan that gets an impressive estimated 40 miles per gallon combined. It starts at $41,820, and it has a 2.5-liter in-line 4 engine.

The Lexus GS 450h features a 3.5-liter V-8 engine that gets an estimated 31 miles per gallon combined. Starting at $63,635, this four-door performance vehicle has plenty of legroom and comfort features.

The Lexus LS 500h combines two electric engines with a self-charging lithium-ion battery and a 10-speed automatic transmission. Starting at $79,510, this luxury sedan gets an estimated 28 miles per gallon combined.

The Lexus LC 500h is a sporty coupe that delivers luxury as well as performance. Its 3.5-liter V8 engine gets an estimated 30 miles per gallon combined. It starts at $96,510.

The future of electric vehicles is promising, and Lexus is preparing for some exciting changes to its already healthy lineup of hybrid and performance vehicles. Plans for hybrid versions of its F series and a standalone hybrid GT could perfectly round out its stable of electric vehicles very soon.
