A lot of people don’t think about making plans for Memorial Day weekend until the day is almost upon them. If you’ve ever scrambled to find something to do on a holiday weekend, you know how hard it can be to find somewhere to go. This year, plan ahead by scouting out some of these favorite holiday weekend destinations.

Here’s a quick list to give you an idea where to celebrate Labor Day in Allentown, PA, this year.

Cedar Beach Park

This is a great place for people looking to celebrate Labor Day with family and large groups of friends. Cedar Beach Park offers a number of activities and amenities like:

  • Basketball courts
  • Beach volleyball courts
  • Hard volleyball courts
  • A 1,900 square-foot playground
  • A public pool

There’s plenty for everybody to enjoy here, and Cedar Beach Park is especially great for families with younger children who need to burn off some energy while the adults celebrate in their own way.

Trexler Memorial Park

If you’re interested in a more low-key celebration, Trexler Memorial Park might be a good option. This is a quieter location that doesn’t offer much in the way of playgrounds or physical activities. Trexler Memorial Park is, however, a great choice if you’d like to enjoy the holiday with a quiet picnic, perhaps with a significant other. There are also plenty of walking and biking trails. So if you’d like to take a romantic Memorial Day stroll, this is a great option.

Fountain Park

When it comes to holidays, Memorial Day is about as American as it gets. Why not celebrate the day by participating in one of America’s favorite pastimes? Fountain Park features a total of three baseball fields, making it the perfect place for family and friends to honor America’s favorite sport while remembering her fallen heroes. If baseball isn’t your thing, Fountain Park also has two basketball courts and a soccer field.

Canal Park

Canal Park is a great spot for outdoor enthusiasts, especially if you like canoeing. It has a pavilion with two grills that are available for rent, making it a great place to host a Memorial Day barbeque. If anybody in your group likes to canoe, this is the perfect place to let them get some time out on the water while the food is being prepared. Canal Park is a top pick for local residents to celebrate Memorial Day. So if you’re interested in renting out the pavilion, you should probably do it sooner rather than later.

Don’t miss out on everything Memorial Day has to offer this year by failing to plan ahead. With a little foresight, you can make this the best holiday celebration you’ve ever had. Of course, in all of the planning and excitement, it can be easy to forget the real reason behind Memorial Day. Wherever you choose to celebrate it, make sure you find some way to honor the fallen American heroes that have made the day possible.
